This is an interesting claim and I'd like some evidence.
I do believe that would be an eventuality as struggle develops, and you're correct that alternatives must be created, but I'm not aware of any sites that were shut down for this reason.
It would make sense if left-wing social networks large enough to gain some level of infamy (e.g. /leftypol/, some Mastodon and Lemmy instances) would have some level of monitoring beyond the basic dragnet, but I haven't seen anything beyond intuitive speculation. It's not like we're producing terrorists the same way that right-wing movements are (WN/neo-Nazism, IS, etc.).

Yes, and although that enables one to remain quite anonymous here, it's a public forum run somewhat casually. It's not bulletproof, it ultimately trusts the users to protect themselves. The clearnet domain and the server itself are in countries and companies with relatively good rights around free expression and outside of 5EYES, but ultimately a country subject to capitalist rule.
